Unfortunately we have had to suspend our indoor Tigers classes until 2021, we will be continuing with zoom sessions for the rest of the year.
Juniors & Tigers returning to indoor training,
In line with the guidance given last week by the government we are allowed to resume indoor training sessions for our junior and tiger students. As before you must book into each class and make sure that you follow the requirements which are listed on the booking page. Book into Junior sessions here Book into Tiger sessions here Adults Zoom classes We will continue with Zoom sessions with a slightly revised time schedule to accommodate the juniors, I appreciate that Zoom sessions are not replacement for an instructor lead class, but it is all we can do at this time. The sessions will start at 19:30 and run until 20:30 on Mondays and Wednesdays. It is the same link as we have ben using and is in the schedule table below. Gradings We are able to host a coloured belt grading before Christmas, the grading will be videoed and forwarded to Grand Master Dew to watch. Please let me know If you would like to be considered for this grading and I can forward you the application page you have to complete. Any adults wishing to grade, please let me know and we can make arrangements to record your grading. I would like to run the grading sessions during the normal class times on 14th & 16th December. The Black Belt grading that was supposed to happen in October has now been provisionally booked for 24th January. If the opportunity presents itself, we hope to run very limited number Black Belt sessions as soon as possible. Licences and fees Please check that your TAGB is still valid, if you are unsure please check with me. And if you are resuming your training make sure that your standing order is in place. Training sessions over Christmas We will continue with a regular class schedule up to Wednesday 23rd December, then have a class on Wednesday 30th at Hutton Moor and Zoom. Returning back to a normal schedule from Saturday 2nd January 2021. Following on from Saturday’s announcement from the Prime Minister regarding a national lockdown our training will have to adapt, and we will again be using on-line classes commencing Monday 9th November.
I am aiming to run our sessions at Hutton Moor and The Campus as normal this week, with the virtual sessions starting the week after, following the same schedule as during the first lockdown. I will post all the class details on the website this week. The Zoom sessions I will be providing are free to all of you, as are the additional content classes. As this is hopefully only going to last for one month any payments made during lockdown to the club account will be credited for future gradings, licences or equipment purchases. I know that this type of training is not suitable for some of you, if you have any concerns regarding the on-line session please get in contact with me. Unfortunately, the Black and Coloured belt gradings will be rescheduled to a time that we are able to meet and train in our venues again. On a positive note The TAGB is proposing a local on-line patterns course, which will feed into a national competition. This event will crown local and national champions; I will forward on any information regarding this when it becomes available. I hope to see you all in class next week, then on-line for a month. Take care and stay safe Simon Lambert – Club manager Courtesy- Integrity - Perseverance - Self-control - Indomitable spirit Wash hands - Cover face - Make space As from the Monday 5th of October we can resume a normal schedule for indoor training as we now have access to The Campus on a Monday and Hutton Moor on Wednesday evening. We will be adhering to all guidelines which allow us to safely teach sports to individuals in controlled environments. We are not in our usual places to train; on a Monday we are in Conference room 1, which is upstairs and on Wednesdays we are in the Sway studio, which overlooks the main sports hall. We will have 3 classes on each night, with fewer people in each class to allow us to maintain social distancing and observe all guidelines on a safe training environment. I will have to work out what the best mix of students for each group is going to be. Initially I suggest we split the classes as below. 18:00 - 18:45 Juniors 18:55 - 19:45 Juniors & Families 19:55 – 20:55 Adults I will review the way the class is divided up when I see who has asked to book into class. Everyone will have to book into the classes to reserve a place by clicking the button below Once you have booked in I will send you an email as soon as I can confirming which session you are in.
For those who have been attending the virtual lessons we have held our last virtual class. After 63 separate classes and 16 gradings sessions it is time to get back into the dojang. The virtual sessions may have to return again if needed. When you resume your training please ensure that you restart your monthly fee payments and check your licence is up to date. I also appreciate that returning to class is not something you may feel comfortable with at this time, or If you have decided not to return to training for any reason, please could I ask you to let me know. After this week’s announcement from the government we have had to slightly modify the arrangements we have for indoor training sessions. We all must wear face masks in and around the venues we are in, we are not required to wear a mask during our classes.
From Friday you must wear non marking trainers in class. The venues are displaying the COVIDNHS track and trace QR code, Students over 16 are asked to check in to the venue. Please book into these classes online https://www.weston-tkd.co.uk/returntotraining.html Link to BTC safe practice risk assessment BTC Guidance 23 sept 2020 In response to any questions, rumours & general concerns.
This is the situation so far concerning physical training sessions and moving safely forward. We are awaiting official confirmation from our government appointed National Governing Body (NGB) which for us is the British Taekwondo Council (BTC). It is looking likely that as we are not a team sport and delivering a non-contact syllabus so under the recent guidelines we come under a general fitness class. This should allow us to continue as normal, providing that Hutton Moor is also allowing this. I have submitted all our risk assessments and covid safe certificates and I am awaiting confirmation. I am keen to keep the classes running, but only if it we can provide a safe environment to train and it is permissible to do so. Please watch for updates, all classes as normal this week. If you wish to attend the class on Friday you still must book in here. https://www.weston-tkd.co.uk/returntotraining.html We have two new 3rd Dans!
Well done to Phil Chamberlain & Tony Cheeseman who have been successful at the recent Black Belt grading, Without doubt It has been the most difficult run up to any grading I have ever experienced, but Phil and Tony kept their training going and smashed it! Well done Gentlemen We are able return to indoor training at Hutton Moor from this Friday, 11th Sept 2020.
You will have seen that the government has applied a “rule of 6” for gatherings, but there are exceptions such as education, workspaces and organized team sports, we have been told by the British Tae Kwon Do Council that we have procedures in place that allow us to meet to train as an organized team sport. I know that it is short notice and it is not our usual training night, this is a temporary slot that we have been offered and we will be going back to Wednesdays as soon as possible. I appreciate that not everyone is ready to return to indoor classes, so for those who want to we will be continuing with virtual classes for the foreseeable future. For those of you who have asked to return to indoor training there will be a big difference in the way we train, obviously there will be no sparring, partner work everything you will be doing in class will be as a solo activity spaced at 3 meters part from each other. We will be using three of the badminton courts in the main sports hall, this gives us 50% more room and Hutton Moor has limited the number of people who can attend. The area has been marked up with 3-meter distanced apart spaces to exceed current distancing guidelines. There will be a process we ALL must follow when attending a class.
As you can see parents are not allowed in the training hall, when you drop your child off please wait for a few minutes to allow them into the class before leaving Hutton Moor, in the unlikely event they fail the temperature test. We will start back at the Campus on Monday 5th October, with revised timings, I will send you all more information as we get closer to the start date. The current class schedule is Monday – Virtual 18:00-18:45 White-Yellow & Green belts 19:00-19:45 Blue-Red & Black Belts Wednesday – Virtual 18:00-18:45 White-Yellow & Green belts 19:00-19:45 Blue-Red & Black Belts Friday – Hutton Moor LC 19:15-19:55 Juniors student& family groups 20:00-20:45 Adults & teens If you want to attend the Friday class, you MUST book in on-line here https://www.weston-tkd.co.uk/returntotraining.html When we get back to indoor training the club will ensure that it is as safe and risk adverse as it can be by introducing these rules for indoor training sessions: -
