40th Anniversary Tournament 2015
On Saturday 1st February 1975, the Weston Tae Kwon-Do club was opened by Mike Dew, to celibate that date 40 years later World Master Dew presided over an anniversary competition... back where it all started in Weston-Super-Mare.
Over 540 students and 500 spectators attended, and one hundred officials made sure that the day ran smoothly. There was a demonstration by the TAGB national demo squad, and the event had competitors not just from the Southwest but from Wales and Ireland as well. During the day there was a inter-county black belt team event with a mixture of men, ladies and junior boys and girls, the event was won by Wiltshire after an electric final between two "keen" heavyweight instructors.
The highlight of the day was when Master & Mrs Dew where given gifts in recognition of all their demanding work in supporting over sixty instructors across 100 clubs and just short of five thousand currently training students across the Southwest.
As it was stated in a tribute speech "Without them, none of this would have been possible".
