Junior KickStarters 8-12 year olds
Kickstarters is a Junior Tae Kwon Do class offering energetic, exciting activities that aim to put the fun back into physical fitness.
Not only will juniors see improvements in their fitness and flexibility through regular participation in our martial arts classes, but they will also learn how their bodies work and how important it is to be active. We hope to encourage a positive attitude through martial arts that will benefit juniors throughout their adult lives.
Your child will not be turned into some knife wielding ninja assassin! we will help them through positive reinforcement of good judgment and awareness as well as fair play.
One of the things that juniors like to see is success and they like recognition of their efforts, we always positively encourage them to set goal to reach their next level.
The sessions will be physically active, sometimes challenging but ultimately rewarding.
Where and when are the classes? We have two classes a week both staring at 18:00 Mondays we are at the Campus and Wednesdays we are at Hutton Moor, during the current restrictions we meet all students in reception and temperature check them before going to the training hall, we return the juniors back to reception at 18:55.
What should my child wear? Just come along in loose comfortable sports clothing, trainers and, bring along a sports bottle with non-fizzy drink! If your child decides to continue training with us, you can get a suit (Dobok) from the club shop.
Who takes the sessions? The principal instructor is World Master Simon Lambert 7th Dan, who also oversees all administration, student welfare and is the lead safeguarding officer. The club benefits from a Black Belt teaching team of 3rd Dan Instructors, Mr Chamberlain, Mr Gifford, Mr Wilsher-Day and Mr Cheeseman as well as junior leaders in the class, each class is spilt up according to the student’s grade and capabilities.
How long is the session? We train for 55 mins, with a short drink & toilet break during the class.

My child is a little anxious to come to class for the first time Don’t worry we operate a ”buddy” system where one of the more experienced juniors will be there with them to make them feel welcome.
What happens if my child is unwell in the session? Hopefully, your child will have a great time in class, however if we feel they would be better with you, we will call you during the session.
Will my child get beaten up by more experience juniors? No, they will not be sparring until such time as they have learned the basics, and then they are closely supervised by the instructors.
Are you open during school holidays? Yes, If the sports centres are open, we train.
Can I train with my child? Yes, we run a separate family class that safely integrates families who want to come along together and train.
What will it cost? You can book into FREE two-week trial, after that it is a fixed payment of £30 per calendar month for once a week and £40 for unlimited training in Weston and across the Southwest of England. Members of the same family training together get a 25% discount on training fees.
